🍖 “മാംസം മദ്യപാനത്തിനെപ്പോലെ” — ആഗ്രഹത്തിനെതിരെ ഉമറിന്റെ നിലപാട്

“Meat is like alcohol” — Umar’s Stand Against Desire

ഒരു ദിവസം ഖലീഫ ഉമർ (റദിയല്ലാഹു അൻഹു) ജനങ്ങൾ നിരന്തരം മാംസം കഴിക്കുന്നതുകണ്ട് പറഞ്ഞു:

“മാംസത്തെ സൂക്ഷിക്കുക, അതിന് മദ്യപാനത്തെപ്പോലെ അടിമത്തം ഉണ്ട്.”

അല്ലാഹ് ഹലാൽ ആക്കിയതിനെ അദ്ദേഹം നിരോധിച്ചില്ല; എന്നാൽ ഒരു ഓർമ്മപ്പെടുത്തൽ ആയിരുന്നു അത് — ഹലാലായ ആഗ്രഹങ്ങൾ പോലും നിയന്ത്രിക്കാതെയെങ്കിൽ ആത്മാവിനെ അടിമയാക്കും എന്നത്.

Once, Khalifa Umar (رضي الله عنه) noticed people consuming meat too frequently. He said:
“Beware of meat, for it has an addiction like wine.”
He wasn’t forbidding what Allah made lawful, but reminding believers that even halal desires can control the soul if left unchecked.

അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു:

“എന്റെ നഗരത്തിൽ ആളുകൾ വിശന്നുകിടക്കുമ്പോൾ ഞാൻ എങ്ങനെ മാംസം കഴിക്കും?”

He used to say:
“How can I fill my stomach with meat when there are people sleeping hungry in my city?”

ഒരു ദിവസം ഖലീഫ ഉമറിന്റെ മകനെ ഉൾപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന ഒരു കേസ് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ കോടതിയിൽ വന്നു. ആളുകൾ പ്രതീക്ഷിച്ചത് പിതാവിന്റെ അനുകൂലമായ വിധിയായിരുന്നു — പക്ഷേ ഉമർ (റദിയല്ലാഹു അൻഹു) അത് നിരസിച്ചു.

One day, a case came to Khalifa Umar’s court involving his own son. People expected favoritism — but Umar (رضي الله عنه) refused to give him special treatment.

“എന്റെ മകനോട് നീതിയില്ലാതെ ഞാൻ എങ്ങനെ ജനങ്ങളോട് നീതിപുലർത്തും?”

“If I cannot be just with my own son, how can I be just with my people?”

അദ്ദേഹം മകന്റെ കാര്യത്തിൽ സാധാരണ ജനങ്ങൾക്കുള്ളതുപോലെതന്നെ വിധി നടപ്പാക്കി. കുടുംബസ്നേഹത്തേക്കാൾ അല്ലാഹുവിന്റെ നിയമം മുൻപിൽ വന്നു.

He ruled the same way for his son as he would for any citizen. The law of Allah came before the love of family.

അദ്ദേഹം ഏറ്റവും ദരിദ്രരായ ജനങ്ങളോടൊപ്പം ജീവിച്ചു, നീതിയോടെ ഭരിച്ചു, ഒരുദിവസം അല്ലാഹ് ചോദിക്കും എന്ന് ഭയപ്പെട്ടു:
“ഉമർ, നീ നീതിപുലർത്തിയോ?”

He lived like the poorest of his people, ruled with a trembling heart, and feared the Day when Allah would ask:
“Did you rule with justice, O Umar?”

ഈ ജീവിതം ഓരോരുത്തർക്കും കണ്ണാടിയാണ് — നമുക്ക് ചിലത് നഷ്ടപ്പെട്ടാലും, നാം നീതിയുള്ളവരാണോ? എന്ന് ചോദിക്കാൻ.

His life is a mirror for every believer — to ask ourselves: Are we fair even when it costs us something?

Khalifa Umar (رضي الله عنه) showed that justice is not an idea — it’s an act of sacrifice.

അദ്ദേഹം ആഡംബരം തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കാമായിരുന്നു, പക്ഷേ ലളിതത്വം തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.
കുടുംബപക്ഷപാതം കാണിക്കാമായിരുന്നു, പക്ഷേ നീതിയെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.

അതുകൊണ്ടാണ് ചരിത്രം അദ്ദേഹത്തെ രാജാവായി അല്ല, എന്നാൽ അൽ-ഫാരൂഖ് — സത്യം തെറ്റിൽനിന്ന് വേർതിരിച്ചവൻ എന്ന് ഓർക്കുന്നത്.

That’s why history remembers him not as a king, but as Al-Farooq — the one who distinguished right from wrong.
